As we near the end of New York Fashion Week celebrating the spring/summer collections of so many incredible designers, the trends become clear. And what’s been teed up for the season nails-wise is a strong departure from the bold and intricate nail art we’ve been loving all summer. Instead, we’re paring things way back and taking a minimalistic approach. Expect to see lots of nudes, neutral metallics and even bare nails. Here, the best nail looks at NYFW, from some of our favorite nail brands.
JINsoon x MONSE S/S 2025
To complement MONSE’s spring/summer collection inspired by deconstructed menswear and classic tailoring, celebrity manicurist and JINsoon founder Jin Soon Choi chose three nail colors, depending on the look. The majority of models wore Demure, a creamy tan shade that is the perfect nude to pair with your entire fall wardrobe. She also used her Power Coat base coat and Top Gloss topcoat to perfect the look.
KISS x Prabal Gurung S/S 2025
Gurung’s spring/summer designs were inspired by Holi, which is an Indian festival that celebrates spring, love and new life. “The nail look created for Prabal was based on the optimism for the future,” says lead manicurist Gina Edwards, a KISS brand ambassador. “The smokey quartz nail is a symbol of spreading light and hope.”
Edwards used KISS Bare But Better Nails in Nude Drama, which she filed into a soft stiletto shape. She applied nail glue to the artificial nails and the natural nails, and then pressed them on. Then she mixed white nail art paint with a clear topcoat (you can use whatever you have on hand at home) to create a soft white shade. Next, she used a striper brush to brush a line from the tip of the nail halfway down in an “S” motion. Once that dried, she finished with a layer of clear topcoat.
CND x Libertine S/S 2025
Julie Kandalec, CND’s lead nail artist, celebrity manicurist and educator, led the vision this year at Libertine’s show, which was held at Elizabeth Street Garden in NYC. “My inspiration for Libertine nail looks came from when I learned that the designers were inspired to save the Elizabeth Street Garden, which I thought was such a beautiful initiative. Seeing the location and the designs, I envisioned the transition from day to night. The yellow moon at night, or the sun, symbolizes the constant light that shines over the garden—a guiding force of hope and growth. This vision deeply inspired our design. The yellow moon became a central element, embodying warmth, protection, and the natural beauty we wanted to celebrate.”
After prepping the models’ nails and applying the CND SHELLAC Base Coat, Kandalec applied two layers of CND SHELLAC in Whisper and then a layer of CND SHELLAC No-Wipe+Top Coat. Because these are gel polishes, they were cured under LED light between steps. Using a sponge applicator, she applied a true silver chrome pigment over the entire nail, followed by another layer of topcoat to seal the effect. Using a detailed art brush, she created a half-moon design using CND SHELLAC in Catching Light. Then, she finished the look with a final layer of topcoat. Lastly, she applied CND Solar Oil to condition the nails and cuticles.
Deborah Lippmann x Brandon Maxwell S/S 2025
Celebrity manicurist Deborah Lippmann went for a minimalist chic look to showcase Brandon Maxwell’s spring designs. “The perfect five-step mani buffed to a shine with Smooth Operator,” she says.
After filing the models’ nails, Lippmann used her Cuticle Remover Exfoliating Cuticle Treatment to remove the dead cuticle, and then applied her Cuticle Oil to hydrate them. Next, she used her Smooth Operator four-way high gloss nail buffer to shape, smooth, buff and shine the nails. Lastly, she applied her Rich Girl SPF 25 Hand Cream (also a 2024 NewBeauty Award winner).
Salon Perfect x alice + olivia S/S 2025
The French manicure is back! But, this one comes with a glazed twist, which is very on-trend. Nail artist and editorial manicurist Miss Pop used Salon Perfect Glazed French Tip Press on Nails to reflect the fantastical, ethereal world that highlights alice + olivia’s Spring 2025 collection. The almond-shaped nails have a milky pearl finish for the coveted “glazed donut” effect.
Dazzle Dry x 3.1 Phillip Lim S/S 2025
Sally Hansen x Sandy Liang S/S 2025
Nail artist Holly Falcone teamed up with Sally Hansen for Sandy Liang’s spring/summer NYFW show. A perfect pairing for Liang’s ultra-feminine designs, one nail look featured jewel-inspired nail decals. The nails were painted with the brand’s Xtreme Wear in Disco Ball, and once dry, the Salon Effects Nail Accents in Princess Cut were applied. The other nail look used Insta-Dri Holo Glow in Holo-Back, a metallic blue that dries in 60 seconds and only needs one coat. Both looks were topped with Insta-Dri in Clearly Quick.
JINsoon x Proenza Schouler S/S 2025
Jin Soon Choi created a chic, minimalist manicure to complement the brand’s sophisticated spring collection. After cleaning and shaping the models’ nails using her High Performance Diamond Nail File, she applied her Power Coat base coat. Then, she applied two coats of JINsoon Muse, a sheer pink. To complete the look, she used her Top Gloss topcoat for extra shine and quick dry time.
